Previous ICT conferences were held in:
1. Aberdeen, UK, 1988
2. Plymouth, UK, 1992
3. University College London, UK, 1996
4. Durham, UK, 2000
5. Leuven, Belgium, 2004
6. Venice, Italy, 2008
7. Birkbeck, University of London, UK, 2012
8. Brown University, USA, 2016
With the ICT moving back to Europe in 2020, and to France for the first time, the organizers of the conference will be able to represent much more strongly the latest French research on thinking and reasoning. It will also give young French researchers and PhD students, the opportunity to present their research to an international audience of the highest standard. If a large enough room is used in the Hôtel de Ville, all of the plenary sessions can be opened to the public, and there can be one talk on rational thought, in French, especially designed to be accessible to the general Parisian public.
Prestige
The speakers coming to the ICT have always been the world’s leading experts in their disciplines.
600-700 researchers expected
There were about 600 participants in ICT-2012 in London and about 500 in ICT-2016 in Brown. We believe that the attractiveness of Paris (and of the Hôtel de Ville venue), along with its central location in Europe will contribute to making ICT-2020 a success.
International Recognition
Numerous research presented to ICT are thereafter published in famous International journals publishing theoretical and experimental papers on the study of the mind (Cognition, Thinking & Reasoning, Mind & Society, …)
